Our story

Ceccato Colombo ltd. was founded in 2002 in Colombo, to satisfy the need for real Italian gelato in Sri Lanka. IL GELATO was then born! The first shop was opened at Odel Ward Place, where it still resides today, catering to all gelato lovers, with the largest flavour selection in the country.

 

Today IL GELATO has expanded to 6 locations in the west coast: 4 in the country’s capital, one inside the famous Galle Fort and one in Negombo.Of these 7 locations, 3 of them have been  made into coffee shops, called IL CAFFE; serving a variety of Illy coffees, cookies, pastries, street style Italian pizza, and of course, gelato.

After the success of IL GELATO, Ceccato Colombo took over a new adventure in the field of Italian dining, and opened La Trattoria in Battaramulla, Colombo.  After a few years, and demand for a  more central location, the restaurant was moved to its current location in the buzzing Park Street mews, changing its name to Park Street Trattoria, also known as P.S.T.

 

Ceccato Colombo has since been distinguished as a quality company, importing and selling  only the top quality Italian products in its categories. Brands such as Illy Coffee, Bialetti coffee makers, EnoMatic for top wines preservation and serving, Acqua San Pellegrino, pasta Riscossa pastas and sauces, as well as Italian cheeses and cold cuts catered to restaurants as well as home consumption.
