Back in 2002, Il Gelato opened its doors as Sri Lanka’s first authentic Italian gelateria, born from one man’s dream and a love for real gelato. Our father, an Italian visionary, brought his passion to life using time-honoured techniques and simple, natural ingredients. What began as a small shop soon became a family legacy, one that was built on authenticity, quality, and a whole lot of heart.
Today, as his daughters, we continue his dream with the same love and care that started it all. Every flavour uses real fruit, fresh local dairy, and pure ingredients made without shortcuts or preservatives. Our gelato is smoother, richer, and lighter than industrial ice cream, because it’s made the Italian way: slow, careful, and full of soul.
